The "Technological Challenges for Responsible Energy" Chair was born in 2018 through a partnership between l’X and Total. Headed by l’X professor Philippe Drobinski, the Chair supports research and education into energy capture and storage at numerous different scales, from the material right through to the system. The next phase of the project will look at system integration, focusing on the development of energy management systems in buildings. In examining this topic, the Chair aims to take on the first two challenges of the École Polytechnique TREND-X Program, with the third being energy foresight. Three demonstration micronetworks on the campus will be put to use, namely the X-Up start-up accelerator at the École Polytechnique Center for Innovation, a network at SIRTA, and a network that will be installed by Total in the residential buildings.
