In order to continue to address the energy challenges of the 21st century, the "Sustainable Energy" Chair, launched in 2008 by École Polytechnique, the l’X Foundation and the EDF Foundation, was extended in July 2014 for another five years. Its main objective is to develop reflection, education and research on nuclear energy and new energy sectors from a perspective of multidisciplinarity and scientific precision. The Chair provides specific education in nuclear-related fields, including reactor physics, thermohydraulics and heat exchange, reactor technology, and the nuclear fuel cycle. Internships at all major firms in the energy sector and national laboratories, both in France and abroad, are also available to students.
