Inventing the photovoltaics research of tomorrow is the objective of the "Advanced Concepts in Pholtovoltaics" Chair, launched in May 2011 by École Polytechnique and its Foundation, and backed by Total. The Chair supports innovative research in photon engineering and new advanced high-performance concepts. It also gets students acquainted with the situations of innovation that are typical of the field. The project is devoted to sharing its theories and experiences both in industry and in international publications for the general public. The "Advanced Concepts in Pholtovoltaics" Chair is advancing the progress of photovoltaics innovation and encouraging the internationalization of research themes and teaching activities. Erik Johnson, a researcher at the l’X Laboratory of Physics of Interfaces and Thin Films, is its director.
