Many École Polytechnique alumni are also prominent figures in French and international non-governmental organizations. Among them, Guillaume Henri Dufour, co-founder of the International Red Cross with Henri Dunant, who received the first Nobel Peace Prize in 1901. In 2007, Charles-Edouard Vincent created Emmaüs Défi which works to reintegrate homeless people through employment. As for Claire de Mazancourt, she took over as CEO of the Institut de l’Engagement which supports young people looking for jobs, returning to school or starting their own businesses after a period spent volunteering.
