Vaneau’s death

In 1830, the students, most of whom are opposed to Charles X, take sides with the Parisian revolutionaries. Around fifty of them sneak out to play an active part in the July Revolution (les Trois Glorieuses) on July 28, 29 and 30. Among them is Louis Vaneau, who dies during an attack of the barracks on the Rue de Babylone. École Polytechnique’s main courtyard bears his name and a school anthem entitled "Ode to Vaneau" is composed in his honor.
