L’X: the world’s 2nd best small university

École Polytechnique was ranked 2¬¬nd in the Times Higher Education 2018 classification of the top 20 small universities in the world. The annual ranking focuses on institutions with fewer than 5,000 students. L’X took its spot just behind Caltech. This ranking is based on student surveys about the small, "human-scale" universities they attend and the experiences they can offer: smaller class sizes, closer relationships with teaching staff, a greater sense of community and more close-knit campuses.
