"Sustainable Development" Chair

Sustainable development is an inherently interdisciplinary issue, since it is rooted in a threefold environmental, social and economic context. It therefore requires a highly sophisticated, cross-disciplinary research approach. It was in this respect that the "Sustainable Development" Chair was created in 2003 by l’X, its Foundation and EDF. The research developed by this Chair combines economic and social sciences with biology and physics. A number of teaching and research projects have also been set up through the Chair, including the creation of a sustainable development economics track for master's students at l’X, seminars organized on these themes by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, and international scientific conferences and collaborations.
