Patrons: Bernard Esambert (Year of Entry: 1954)

Graduate of the class that entered l’X in 1954, Bernard Esambert subsequently became a chief engineer of the Corps des Mines, and presided over the Board of Directors of École Polytechnique from 1985 to 1993. During his time as President, he increased the institution’s standing on the international scene, and opened a new Doctoral School. Conscious of the need to bring l’X closer to the world of business to help it develop and successfully enter the 21st century, Bernard Esambert created the École Polytechnique Foundation in 1987. Still strongly devoted to l’X, this great philanthropist is one of its valued and generous sponsors.
